DSA's national office in New York City has four staff members. The national staff members work to facilitate the political work of the organization and to carry out routine tasks including maintaining the membership database and raising funds. The staff does not set DSA's political and organizational goals -- it helps to fulfill the goals set by DSA's elected volunteer leadership.
National Director, Frank Llewellyn, has overall responsibility for organizational management and development. He works with the development and financial coordinators and membership services staff to oversee the budget, implement fundraising programs and maintain effective membership support. He also serves as the political director for DSA. In that capacity he works with the the youth organization to implement DSA's political strategy and program.
The Financial Coordinator, Fatou Camara, manages DSA's cash flow and does many other things relating to bookkeeping. She also has some fundraising responsibilities in terms of renewals and fund appeals; she coordinates scheduling, generates mailing lists and works with the mailing house and the fundraising company.
David Duhalde is DSA's Youth Section Organizer. Among David’s responsibilities are: planning YS events (fall and spring conferences and a summer institute); conducting campus visits; helping to write and distribute activist materials (literature, organizing manuals, information packets); responding to information requests; and serving as a liaison between YS activists, DSA, and progressive allies.
